The Beginning of Ugly-crust Pizza
Known for decades as the go-to spot for the best burger in Boulder, The Sink had a hunger to craft something equally memorable—a dish that would leave a mark on taste buds and stand out amidst its legendary offerings.
In 1992, when the Heinritz brothers acquired The Sink from the Kauvar family, a new culinary journey began. They introduced the now-famous "Ugly Crust Pizza" and the revered Buddha Basil Pie, marking a turning point in The Sink's culinary repertoire.
Our crust, freeform and distinctive, blooms uniquely with each baked pie, a testament to the artisanal process behind every creation. The sesame honey white and honey whole wheat crusts have a firm and crispy outside while maintaining a delightful softness inside.
Add a Drizzle of Sweetness
This crust isn't just part of the main course—it can be your dessert canvas, awaiting a drizzle of honey for a playful contrast that's quintessentially Colorado. While some save the crust for a sweet finish, others boldly drench the entire slice, turning every bite into a deliciously whimsical experience.
There's no wrong way to enjoy pizza; after all, it's all about the fun and flavor!
While we honor the origins of Colorado-style pizza, our aim at The Sink is to create an experience that's authentically ours. We've embraced this tradition, reimagined it, and made it a part of our culinary legacy in Boulder.
So, when you're craving real Colorado pizza, come to The Sink—don't forget to try a drizzle of honey for the full experience!
