It’s no question that these days, most people are looking for ways to reduce their impact on the environment. Nowhere is this more true than in Boulder, Colorado.
Here at The Sink, we love beef – our SinkBurgers are the stuff of legend! We also love the environment; we’ve been running on 100% wind power since 2006 and have long used low-flow water fixtures and energy efficient lighting. To further our efforts, we’re going to be working on a new ‘Blended Burger’ over the next few weeks that we plan on offering to our customers.
What’s a blended burger? It’s a burger patty made with mushrooms, reducing the total amount of beef used per patty. For us, that means using our locally-sourced, grassfed beef from Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado, blended with local mushrooms for a 70/30 blend of beef to mushrooms. The potential benefits to the environment are huge, as outlined by the infographic below by the Better Buying Lab and the World Resources Institute.
As part of the process in creating our blended burger, we’ll also be entering the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project competition. Stay tuned for more info on that and how you can vote for us once we’ve rolled out the blended burger option across our menu!
Bon Appétit and cheers to a better world!
